Dr. Portillo earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Hofstra University. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC), where she gained extensive experience working with severe mental illness and complex trauma across the life span. Dr. Portillo has experience treating a broad range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions and severe emotion dysregulation. She is a bilingual (English/Spanish speaking) clinician and has received training and supervision in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) treatments, such as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD. In addition, Dr. Portillo has held positions at Sagamore Children’s Psychiatric Center, Northwell Health’s Behavioral Health College Partnership program and Hofstra University’s Dialectical Behavior Therapy Clinic. Currently, she provides individual DBT and CBT and co-leads skills group for adolescents and adults at the Lake Success CCDBT office.
